Mangrove Cleaning Drive

The DLLE unit of SRIHM conducted a mangrove clean up drive at Nerul on 21st April 2024, in association with Vanashakti. Volunteers armed with gloves and trash bags wade through the tangled roots of the mangrove forest, their determination matching the resilience of the ecosystem they're protecting. With every piece of litter removed, they restore not just the beauty of the mangroves, but also ensure the survival of countless species that call it home.
Laundry Visit
Date: 18/04/2024 and 19/04/2024
An educative 2 day laundry visit organized by Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel management for the students of S.Y.B.Sc Hospitality Studies on 18th and 19th of April 2024 at Hilton Hotel and Resort as it was essential that the students get familiarized with the various equipment & the processes used and followed in an on premise laundry.
There were various equipment like washers, dryers and pressing machines of various capacities. The students also learned about the cleaning agents of Johnson and Diversey.
The entire laundry visit was managed & supervised by Professor Suchismita Roy Indra & Professor Kirk Sampey.
Aurum Reverie

Aurum Reverie held on 17th April 2024 marked the end of an incredible journey for our beloved third year students of SRIHM. It's a bittersweet moment as we bid adieu to these amazing individuals who have filled the halls with laughter, friendship and unforgettable memories for the past 3 years. We have seen them grow and blossom into talented and resilient individuals, ready to take on the world. As they embark on a new chapter in their lives, we wish them nothing but happiness, success, and safety.
Epicuria 2024

From first-timers to trailblazers! Epicuria, a debut food event at SRIHM orchestrated by T.Y B.Sc students, sets a new standard for success on 12th and 13th April.
A sensory journey through the world of food! From mouth-watering dishes to live music and vibrant energy, it was a celebration for all. Our taste buds are still dancing! We devoured delectable dishes from around the globe, sipped on refreshing drinks, and soaked in the festive atmosphere. More than just food! Live music filled the air, talented artists showcased their work, and interactive experiences delighted all ages at EPICURIA.
Gender Sensitisation Workshop

On the 4th of April 2024, the First year students of SRIHM attended a gender sensitisation session which was conducted by Ms. Rachna Pednekar. Her powerful message highlighted the importance of treating every individual, regardless of their gender identity, with respect and providing them with equal opportunities. In a world where gender discrimination still exists, it is crucial for us to educate ourselves and others on this topic. Keeping this in mind we must strive towards creating a society that values and embraces diversity.

Jamie Oliver once said, "Breakfast is a beautiful, elegant thing; a meal to be savoured and embraced."
That's exactly what the atmosphere was on a 02nd April 2024, as students of Third Year B.Sc Hospitality Studies hosted a lavish breakfast spread that included croissants, fruit danish pastry, Turkish bagels, a live omlette and bao counter, as well as hot and cold buffet section with a range of beverages.
'Desayuno' was executed fabulously by the students under the guidance of Chef Stany Lopes, Prof. Selvyn Rodrigues, Chef Sameer Dighe and Prof. Vijay Suradkar.
Masterclass by Mr Sasha Mirchandani

On 12th March 2024, Sheila Gopal Raheja Foundation and Bombay Suburban Art & Craft Education Society organised a Interactive Masterclass by Mr Sasha Mirchandani for the students and faculty members of #LSRSoA, #SRIHM and #SRBS. Mr Sasha Mirchandani, Director and founder of Kae Capital and co- founder of Mumbai Angels gave a #insight into financial literacy his journey as an Angel Investor. Following are few of the key points that he shared Mr Sasha Mirchandani spoke about his life's journey which was very inspiring.

Marathi Bhasha Diwas

"माझा मराठीची बोलू कौतुके। परि अमृतातेहि पैजा जिंके।"
The DLLE unit along with Marathi Vagmay Mandal of SRIHM hosted an event on the occasion of "Marathi rajyabhasha divas" on 27th February 2024. It is celebrated on the birthday of the renowned writer and poet Kusumagraj. This auspicious day started with a beautiful prarthana, and students gave wonderful speeches informing everyone about the Marathi language and Kusumagraj. Poster making and rangoli competitions were also organised. A ramp walk was performed depecting the various Maharashtrian traditional clothing. On this day, the students and the faculty truly felt the strength and enrichment of the Marathi language.
Alumni Meet

"Being a part of the alumni community means being a part of a tradition of excellence and innovation" The alumni of SRIHM returned back to their alma mater for a meet on 23rd February 2024. It was a heartfelt reunion among the students and the faculty as they shared stories and organised the alumni community of SRIHM. The meeting was followed by a high tea prepared by TYBACA students and a DJ evening to commemorate the alumni meet.
Millet Marvel

Declared by the UN as the Year of Millets, the students of FYBA Culinary Arts put up an amazing exhibition the 'Millet Marvel' under the guidance and leadership of Chef Chetan Raut on 23rd February 2024. The event was introduced by the heads Mr. Aditya Rajguru and Mr. Yash Dhand and inaugurated by Principal Mr. Conrad D'Souza and the HODs with the lighting of the lamp. Putting their heart and soul into the event, the students showcased their immense talent with an extensive range of millet dishes including a soup, cookies, cupcakes, brownies, ice-creams and even a millet pani puri. The exhibition was appreciated by not just students and faculty but also parents and alumni members that had the opportunity to witness it, making it a grand success.
Degree Distribution Ceremony 2024

From nervous freshmen to confident graduates, the journey of Batch 2020-23 SRIHM has been nothing less than a rollercoaster ride. As they gathered here for their Degree Distribution Ceremony on 21st February 2024, they couldn't help but reminisce about the first day they stepped into this institution, wide-eyed and excited. Today, as they bid farewell to their alma mater, they are filled with a mix of emotions- excitement, nostalgia, and a tinge of sadness. But as they hold onto their degree certificates in their hands, they are constantly reminded of the hard work, dedication and countless memories that have shaped them into the individuals they are today. As a reminder of the bonds they have formed and the memories they will cherish forever a special video was created capturing all the precious moments these students have shared. As they embark on new journeys, the students took a moment to thank their professors, friends, and family for their unwavering support. We extend our heartfelt wishes to our beloved students as they embark on new beginnings, open new chapters, and embark on new endeavours.
Masterclass on Lebanese Cuisine

A morning filled with aromatic spices and tantalizing flavors as Chef Jihad El Shammi, the culinary mastermind behind Sahara Star's Mediterranean Restaurant - Mabruk, graced us with his presence at SRIHM for an amazing masterclass on 15th February 2024. Along with the talented Chef Akshay, they took us on a journey through Lebanon's rich culinary heritage, whipping up traditional dishes that left our taste buds in a state of pure bliss. From the spices to the fresh ingredients, every dish was a testament to Chef Jihad's expertise and passion for his heritage cuisine. It's always a pleasure to have such amazing chefs share their skills and knowledge with us, and we can't wait to try out these delectable dishes ourselves!

Workshop on Mixology

The B.Sc students of First year, Second year and Third year got an amazing opportunity to explore the world of molecular mixology. The workshop was conducted on 13th February by the fine institute of 'Cocktails and dreams, and the students were taught about coffee', spirits and their origins. The students were enlightened about the science behind molecular mixology and the new world bartending techniques. They also got hands on experience when given a chance to make classic cocktails with a twist using these techniques such as Negroni and Cosmopolitan.
Fire safety and First Aid Workshop

Fire safety and first aid both are essential in dire situations. Every human should be made aware of how and what to do during these situations. The students of TYBSC RDM specialisation got the amazing opportunity to learn all about CPR, fire extinguisher use, bandages, and casualty transportation by Mr Alnoor Gadiya. This was a great learning experience and it had a lot of vital takeaways on Fire safety and First aid on 12th February 2024.
Career Fair 2024

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extention Unit of SRIHM conducted the Annual Career Fair for the students of Purushottam High School on 2nd February 2024. This year while inaugurating the event our principal Mr. Conrad D'Souza gave the opportunity to DLLE student heads Riya D'Souza and Anil Kori to cut the ribbon and get the event on its track.
The DLLE students of SRIHM, presented several career options to the students of Purushottam school, making sure that they were aware of the wide range of careers that they can choose from after their SSC examinations.
Beach Cleaning

With an aim to protect the environment and marine life, Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management's Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), along with Vanashakti NGO and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, came together on 13th January 2024, for a beach cleanup drive at Dadar Chowpatty. Members of the local authorities also provided students with insights on the dangers of non-biodegradable waste that is endangering marine life. Overall, nearly 700-800 kg of non-biodegradable waste was collected, creating a much-needed impact on safeguarding the beauty of the natural world for future generations.
JOY OF GIVING

"True happiness lies in making a positive impact on others". The DLLE team and students of SRIHM felt this first hand as they visited the St Claret Mercy Foundation in Badlapur, a place filled with peace, serenity and surrounded by nature ON 23RD December 2023. As they were introduced to the foundation and the amazing people who call it their home, the student's hearts were filled with joy and motivation to make a positive impact. Through fun activities and interactions, they were able to bring a smile to their faces.
Witnessing the smiles on the faces of the people who now call this Ashram their home was truly heart-warming. The students, bought groceries and donated them to this foundation. It's moments like these that remind us that the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Let's continue spreading love and making a difference in the lives of those in need.
'La Fiesta de Navidad'

"It's the most wonderful time of the year" and the Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management (SRIHM) in true fashion bought this line to life with their festive Christmas lunch - 'La Fiesta de Navidad' on the 22nd of December 2023.
The delicious and special Christmas lunch was organized by the SY BSc. G & H Batches. Christmas is not just about the glimmering lights, the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, or the sweet aroma of Christmas delicacies pervading the air, it's about the joy we share, the memories we make and the celebration of love and togetherness that this season brings.
There were 3 live counters, 2 carving stations for the honey glazed leg of ham and the Christmas turkey as well as a live dessert counter for the Christmas pudding flambéed with brandy sauce. As for the entertainment part of the event a choir was organized by the SRIHM students as well as ex-student Stalin with his amazing band called Levitate. There was a photo booth too to create long lasting memories.
PAKA DARPANA - Culinary Mirror of India

The most anticipated Third Year B.A.Culinary Art event of 2023 took place on 4th November 2023. At 12pm in the afternoon, the auditorium on the ground floor of Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management started bustling with activity as the guests began to arrive at the venue. The Invitation hampers, included lovely packed jars of masalas, boxes of sweets, a transparent invitation card inked in white and a golden mirror representing the essence of their event.
The event was also graced with the presence of dignitaries from the industry and academia. The auditorium was beautifully decorated with minute attention to detail, panels covering the walls with decor that first come to mind when we think of the rich Indian culture. Outside, the bar team had set up their beverage counter and were serving out delicious mocktails to each of our guests. The table setups were adorned with trinkets showcasing Indian royalty.
The event then set off with a fusion of traditional and modern Indian dances. The actors displayed exceptional talent and brought their characters to life with authenticity and emotion. A skit that portrayed the interaction of artificial intelligence of today's era, clashing with the traditional methods of an era long gone in the past, a nukkad natak-a style of street theatre, which educated us a little more on this year's theme "Millet Kranti".
The dancers delivered a stunning performance, showcasing their grace and precision throughout the event leaving the audience in awe. The actors and dancers worked seamlessly together, creating a captivating synergy on stage. The audience was treated to a truly memorable experience, which left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Last but not the least, band performances that wove the sounds of India into a contemporary tapestry of rhythms and melodies.
Their performance took us on a musical odyssey through the heart and soul of India reminiscing of the times of our childhood, where innocence, joy, and laughter knew no bounds. As the performances carried on, the guests were being served their meals in a manner that was beautifully executed with each dish corresponding to a course which represents the various aspects of Indian Heritage. The service of these courses was in perfect correspondence with the show on stage, so the guest could experience the thought that went behind creation of every dish that was put on the menu. In total, there were eight courses which comprised of;
1st course: A focus on the 5 organoleptic senses.
2nd course: Indian medicine; Ayurveda.
3rd course: A medley of two states; Ladakh and Odissa
4th course: Millet Kranti
5th course: Connection of the modern and ancient timelines
6th course: The Colonisation of India
7th course: Produce of home
8th course: A rewind to everyone's childhood memories
Pasta Masterclass by Michelin Star Chef Andrea Tranchero

It was an absolute delight to have Andrea Tranchero, the Michelin star &Executive Chef of Barilla, conducting a workshop for the students of Third Year Hospitality studies on 9th October 2023. The workshop started with Chef Andrea providing insightful information about Barilla's history, Italian cuisine, and how it has changed over the years.
Chef Andrea then demonstrated the preparation of several types of pastas with different sauces, highlighting how each variety of pasta has its own distinct flavour. To add to the fun, a quiz was also held at the end and SohamNagvekar, Krupa Panchal and SamidaKasabi emerged as the winners and were presented with gifts. To top it off, the students were gifted hampers and certificates as mementos of this interactive session. We look forward to having many more sessions with Chef Andrea Tranchero!
Amantran Shonar Bangla

On 6th October 2023, the students of Second year culinary Art took us on a culinary journey through the colourful state of Bengal. Named 'Amantran Shonar Bangla', the students welcomed faculty and senior staff of the Sheila Raheja Institute with a speech and dance. The guests then went on to enjoy the exceptionally curated Bengali cuisine which included traditional appetizers, main courses, desserts and beverages.
The lunch was complimented by the well-thought-out décor and Bengali attire. With Chef Vinayak Shettigar at the helm, the event had the soul of Bengal through and through. Principal Conrad D'souza along with Mr. Arvind Tiwari and faculty members commended the entire team for their tireless efforts and praised the event as "Khoob Bhalo".
Know your Council Day

The first-year students of Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management attended the annual Know Your Council Day on 04th September 2023. The event commenced with a prayer dance and followed by the Core Student Council Member introduction and speeches. The class representatives of all three years were also introduced.
A skit demonstrating the importance of discipline and grooming standards of the institution was then performed by second and third year students. The club heads also showcased how the students can choose to partake in various clubs. The event came to a close with an energetic dance by the cultural club and a vote of thanks by the President of the Student Council – Ms. Tanushka Acharekar.
Masterclass on Health-Wellness and workplace Ergonomics

Dr. Anjana Laungani a Consultant Physiotherapist and Rehab Specialist - in her field with 30+ years of experience, Medical director of Physiorehab Clinics India Pvt. Ltd. along with Dr. Shinee Shanbag Deputy Medical director and consultant Physiorehab conducted a Masterclass titled Health-Wellness and workplace Ergonomics for the students of Raheja Education complex on 1st September 2023. This highly interactive and engaging Masterclass was attended by over 300 students from Sheila Raheja Institute of Hotel Management, L.S.Raheja School of Architecture and Sheila Raheja School of Business Management and Research Studies.
Dr Laungani addressed issues pertaining to poor posture and workplace ergonomics and their effects on our health in a very enlightening lecture, which was followed by an interactive exercise demo cum workshop on prevention techniques and proper posture. The Masterclass was a grand success. This was followed by a Wellness Screening of 40 Students and Teachers of all three colleges by 4 Physiotherapists of Physiorehab Clinic.
